Vega, Texas (April 15, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured last week Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash just south of Vega, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 11:40 a.m., April 6, on U.S. 385 at Interstate 40.

DPS said Theresa Clark, 72, of Tucumcari, was driving an SUV westbound on I-40 access road while a semi-tractor trailer was traveling northbound on U.S. 385.

Clark failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled into the path of the semi-tractor trailer, and her SUV was struck on the driver’s side door by the truck.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Del Clark, 75, was taken to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver, David Reyes Jr. of Dimmitt, Texas, was uninjured in the crash.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to officials.

The crash remains under investigation.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
