Tony Orlando Lopez and Jose Antonio Carbajal Killed in La Joya Two-Vehicle Crash at FM 2221 and 3 Mile Line

La Joya, Texas (June 2, 2023) – Two people were killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in La Joya, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 5:00 a.m., June 1, at the intersection of FM 2221 and 3 Mile Line.

Police said a passenger car was traveling northbound when it collided with a tractor-trailer that was heading southbound.

Two people in the passenger car, 39-year-old Tony Orlando Lopez from Weslaco and 25-year-old Jose Antonio Carbajal from Sullivan City, were killed in the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
