Virgil Wyatt Smith Killed in Amarillo Pedestrian Accident at Amarillo Boulevard and Madison Street

Amarillo, Texas (October 12, 2020) – A man was killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run crash in Amarillo, according to police.

The deadly accident happened on October 10, in the area of Amarillo Boulevard and Madison Street.

Police said Virgil Wyatt Smith, 60, was crossing Amarillo Boulevard when he was struck by a westbound dark-colored pickup truck.

The truck driver stopped for a short time and then fled the scene.

Smith was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department is investigating the crash.
