Wade Stagle ID’d as 1 of 4 Killed in Gonzales County Crash on Interstate 10 near Waelder

Gonzales County, Texas (July 7, 2022) – Authorities have identified one of the four people who died following a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Gonzales County as Wade Stagle, 57, of Remer, Minnesota.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash, which involved three truck-tractors with semi-trailers and three passenger vehicles, happened at around 11:22 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, on Interstate 10 near Waelder.

DPS said Stagle was driving a 2021 Volvo truck-tractor hauling a semi-trailer eastbound on Interstate 10 in the right lane when he failed to slow down near a construction zone and struck a 2020 BMW. The Volvo truck-tractor then hit several other vehicles.

Stagle and his passenger died at the scene. The driver and one of the two passengers of the BMW were also pronounced dead at the scene.

A boy in the BMW sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital.

Police temporarily closed Interstate 10 for more than eleven hours as the investigation and cleanup took place. Motorists were being diverted onto a feeder road and diverted around.

The DPS is investigating the accident.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
