Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 281 in San Antonio

69-Year-Old Woman Killed in San Antonio Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 281

San Antonio, Texas (July 19, 2021) – According to the police, one person was killed, and another was injured Sunday afternoon in a wrong-way crash in San Antonio.

The fatal crash happened on July 18, on Highway 281 near Basse Road.

Police said a 69-year-old woman was driving when she made a U-turn and began traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. She then crashed head-on into a Toyota Tundra.

The woman had to be extricated from her car and was taken to University Hospital, where she later died.

The Tundra driver was also taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash closed a portion of Highway 281 northbound, backing up traffic for several hours.

The police are investigating the crash.
