Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Southwest Freeway (US-59) in Sugar Land

Woman Killed in Sugar Land Two-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway (US-59) at Highway 6

Sugar Land, Texas (November 16, 2020) – A woman was killed in a wrong-way crash early Monday morning in Sugar Land, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:38 a.m., on the Southwest Freeway (US-59) southbound at Highway 6.

Police said a truck was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway when it crashed head-on into a Jeep.

The Jeep driver was killed in the crash. Her name has not been released.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. Investigators believe the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.

The crash closed US-59 southbound for several hours. It has since been reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
