1 Killed, 2 injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 146 in Dayton

One Killed, Two Hospitalized after Dayton Crash on State Highway 146

Dayton, Texas (November 1, 2022) – One person was killed and two other people were injured in a Halloween night traffic crash in Dayton, according to a report by the Dayton Police Department.

The deadly crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 31 in the 5900 block of State Highway 146 south.

As per the police report, a GMC Yukon was pulling out of a driveway on the east side of State Highway 146 when it drifted into the path of an Infinity SUV. Both vehicles ultimately collided.

The GMC Yukon was then hit by two other vehicles and stopped in the middle of State Highway 146. The Infinity veered off the road and come to stop in the ditch on the east side of the highway, just north of the entrance to The Oaks Club.

The driver of the Infinity, a Liberty County resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were transported to a hospital in unknown condition.

It is undetermined if intoxication played a role in the crash.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
