One Killed and Two Injured in Lake Jackson Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 332 near Elm Street

Lake Jackson, Texas (July 13, 2022) – One person was killed, and two others, including a Brazoria County sheriff’s deputy, were injured early Wednesday morning in a wrong-way crash in Lake Jackson, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 1:35 a.m., on Highway 332 near Elm Street.

Authorities said the deputy was driving northbound on the highway while a Ford passenger car was heading southbound in the northbound lanes.

The deputy reportedly saw the Ford’s headlights and tried to avoid the vehicle, but they still collided head-on.

A male passenger in the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The deputy and the Ford driver were airlifted to Memorial Hermann. The Ford driver was listed in critical condition.

A third vehicle struck the deputy’s patrol unit after the crash, but no injuries were reported in that crash.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of the highway.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
