1 Killed, 7 Injured in 18-Wheeler Accident on Interstate 20 in Weatherford

One Dead, 7 Hospitalized after Weatherford Crash on Interstate 20 near Cleburne Highway Off-Ramp
Weatherford, Texas (April 20, 2019) – One person was killed and seven other people were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a traffic accident in Weatherford, police said.
The deadly crash took place at around 3:42 p.m. Friday, April 19 on Interstate 20 near the Cleburne Highway exit.
According to the police, a semi-truck was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 and had just gone under the bridge at the 408-mile marker, where traffic was backed up.
The semi-truck failed to slow down in time and rear-ended an SUV in the left lane, which was then pushed into a passenger car in front of it. The force of the impact caused that car to spin and struck a pickup truck in front of it.
Investigators believed the semi-truck also struck the pickup truck. That impact caused the semi-truck to slide toward the median and crashed into the center median cable system before flipping onto its driver side. The cargo of the semi-truck, plastic Gatorade bottles, spilled onto the interstate.
The driver of the passenger car, identified as a 44-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Seven other people were transported to various hospitals with unspecified injuries. Their names and current condition were not immediately reported.
Two other people were treated by responding paramedics and released at the crash site.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
