1 Killed in Dump Truck Crash on FM 408 in Orange County

One Killed in Orange County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 408 near FM 105

Orange County, Texas (March 5, 2021) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Orange County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 8:15 a.m. on FM 408 near FM 105.

DPS said a Honda passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on the highway while a Freightliner dump truck was traveling northbound. As the vehicles entered a curve, the Honda crossed into the northbound lane and was hit by the dump truck.

The Honda driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

An infant who was a passenger in the Honda was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital for observation. They were properly secured in a car seat at the time of the crash.

The dump truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The crash closed all northbound and southbound lanes of FM 408.

Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

The crash remains under investigation.
