1 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on SH 71 in Bastrop

One Killed in Bastrop Multi-Vehicle Crash at SH 71 and FM 304

Bastrop, Texas (September 23, 2023) – One person was killed early Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash in Bastrop, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 1:15 a.m., September 22, on SH 71 and FM 304.

Police said a 2012 Ford Fusion was stopped in the eastbound lanes of SH 71 after it had broken down when it was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler.

A third vehicle was also involved in the crash.

The Fusion driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The 18-wheeler driver sustained minor injuries in the crash.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
