1 Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Gulf Freeway in Houston

One Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Gulf Freeway (Interstate 45)

Houston, Texas (January 7, 2023) – A person was killed on New Year’s Day in a pedestrian accident in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 12:50 a.m., January 1, in the 6400 block of Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45).

Police said the pedestrian was in the main lanes of the freeway when he was struck by a southbound black Dodge Grand Caravan. There was heavy fog at the time of the crash.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver, a 35-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. She and her five passengers were uninjured in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.
