Harris County, Texas (April 18, 2020) – A 1-year-old girl was killed, and a man was injured Friday night in a hit-and-run crash in northeast Harris County, according to deputies.

The fatal crash happened shortly after 11:00 p.m. April 17, in the 4700 block of Aldine Mail Route Road.

Deputies said a man was driving a Nissan Altima westbound on the roadway when a red Toyota Tacoma that was traveling in the opposite direction lost control, hit a curb and crashed into the Nissan.

The man and a 1-year-old girl, who was in the front passenger seat of the Nissan, were taken to a local hospital where the baby later died. The baby was not in a car seat but was strapped in a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Toyota fled the scene after the crash but was later tracked down.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.
