Sabian Castro, Daniella Castro, Trenton Wright, Lillian Castro ID’d as 4 Children Killed in Lee County Crash on Highway 77 near Giddings

Lee County, Texas (June 7, 2019) – The four children were killed Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident that also sent two other people to a hospital in Lee County have been identified as Sabian Castro, 2, Daniella Castro, 3,Trenton Wright, 7, Lillian Castro, 13, all from Giddings, according to the DPS.

The tragic wreck happened at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 on Highway 77, approximately miles south of Giddings.

DPS said a car was traveling northbound on Highway 77 when its driver tried to avoid striking a jackknifed 18-wheeler in the roadway, but ended up crashing into another semi-truck behind the jackknifed semi.

Sabian, Daniella, Wright and Lillian, who were in the car, were killed in the wreck. The driver and the other child in the car were transported to an Austin hospital where they remain in critical condition. It remains unknown whether the children and the adult in the car were all part of the same family.

The driver of one 18-wheeler is from College Station and the other 18-wheeler driver is from Bryan.

Authorities said the roads were wet when the tragic crash occurred, but it was immediately unclear if the weather played a role in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
