Cindy Ybanez Killed in SW Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Buffalo Speedway near Darlinghurst Drive

Houston, Texas (September 22, 2021) – According to the police, a teenage girl was killed, and another person was injured Friday night in a two-vehicle crash in southwest Houston.

The fatal crash happened around 6:40 p.m., September 17, in the 13900 block of Buffalo Speedway near Darlinghurst Drive.

Police said a blue Chevrolet Cobalt was attempting to cross the northbound lanes when it was struck by a speeding silver Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The force of the impact sent the Dodge Ram over a concrete curb and into trees in the median.

Cindy Ybanez, 16, who was a passenger in the Dodge Ram, was killed in the crash. She was a student at YES Prep charter school. 

The Dodge Ram driver, an 18-year-old, sustained injuries in the crash and is expected to be OK.

The crash closed both directions of Buffalo Speedway.

The crash remains under investigation.
