Windthorst, Texas (October 21, 2023) – A 17-year-old girl was killed Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Windthorst, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 12:30 p.m., October 20, on U.S. 281 near the Dollar General.

DPS said the girl was driving a 2019 Nissan Kicks northbound and was slowing to make a left-hand turn when the Nissan was rear-ended by a 2020 Ford F250 that failed to control its speed. The Ford was being driven by Florencio Ramirez Garcia, 65, of Graham. The impact caused the Nissan to spin, and was struck by a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Malibu.

The 17-year-old was taken to United Regional Healthcare System, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
