Two HPD Officers and 2 Civilians Injured in SE Houston Crash on Interstate 45 near Park Place Boulevard

Houston, Texas (May 25, 2021) – Two HPD officers and two civilians were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday night in southeast Houston, according to the authorities.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m., May 23, on the I-45 Gulf Freeway near Park Place Boulevard.

Authorities said two HPD officers had responded to an accident on the left shoulder of the northbound lanes, and they turned on their emergency lights and used their police car to block off the two closest lanes to the accident.

The police car was then rear-ended by a car that was traveling too fast on the freeway.

The impact pushed the police car into the third lane of traffic, where it was also hit by another car.

Both officers were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries.

The other two drivers were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
