Wuence Anzaldua Killed in Jim Wells County Three-Vehicle Crash on US 281

Jim Wells County, Texas (January 23, 2021) – Two people were killed, and another was injured in a three-vehicle crash Thursday night in Jim Wells County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened just after 10:00 p.m., January 21, on US 281, about 6 miles south of Premont.

DPS said a Ford utility van was traveling southbound on the highway while a Chevy Silverado was traveling northbound.

For unknown reasons, the Silverado veered into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into the van.

The force of the impact caused the van to overturn onto its left side.

Both vehicles came to rest partially in the left southbound lane and the center median.

A southbound Kenworth semi-truck then sideswiped the Silverado and hit the van. The force of the impact caused the van to skid further down the roadway, partially ejecting the driver.

The Silverado driver, Diego Perez, 24, of Premont, and the van driver, Wuence Anzaldua, 51, of Mission, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A male passenger in the Silverado was taken to Spohn Kingsville with serious injuries but in stable condition.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
