Two Killed in Axtell Crash on SH 31 and FM 2311
Axtell, Texas (March 31, 2019) – Two people were killed early Saturday morning in a traffic accident near Axtell, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The deadly crash was reported at about 3:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30 on SH 31 at FM 2311, northeast of Axtell.
The DPS said a GMC SUV was heading southbound on FM 2311 when the driver ran a red light and struck a Hyundai. The Hyundai then rolled over several times after the impact.
The driver and the passenger of the Hyundai were declared dead at the scene. Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The passenger of the GMC was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco with incapacitating injuries. The driver of the GMC was also taken to Baylor Scott and White in Waco to be treated for a possible injury.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
