Two Killed in San Antonio Two-Vehicle Crash on West Poplar and NW 26th Street

San Antonio, Texas (January 1, 2020) – Two people were killed in an alleged hit-and-run crash early New Year’s Day in San Antonio, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on West Poplar and NW 26th Street.

Police said a minivan, occupied by four people, was backing out of a driveway when it was hit by a speeding pickup truck, which then took out a utility pole and some power lines, knocking out the power in the nearby homes.

One person was ejected from the minivan and was declared dead at the scene. Another person died after the minivan caught fire.

A bystander suffered burns while trying to save people inside the vehicle, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Two people in the truck fled the scene. The police are looking for the suspect.

The police are investigating the crash.
