Roger Fuentes Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident at Colorado and 13th Street

Austin, Texas (April 22, 2021) – The man who was fatally hit by a DPS trooper last week Thursday in Austin has been identified as Roger Fuentes, 50, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident occurred around 3:40 a.m., April 15, at the intersection of Colorado and 13th Street, near the Texas Capitol.

DPS said Trooper Melvin Hardy was patrolling the area near the capitol building when he struck Fuentes, who was lying in the middle of the roadway.

Fuentes was pronounced dead at the scene. His last known address is in Taft, Texas.

Hardy was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
