One Injured in Austin Two-Vehicle Crash at FM 973 and SH 71 near ABIA

Austin, Texas (November 22, 2021) – One person was injured early Monday morning in a truck crash in southeast Austin, according to officials.

The crash was reported around 4:26 a.m., in the area of South FM 973 and State Highway 71 Service Road, under the overpass, near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Officials said a fuel truck and another large truck were involved in the collision.

The driver of the fuel truck was pinned inside and had to be extricated. The victim was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash closed the intersection due to a HAZMAT spill.

No further details regarding the crash were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
