The fatal crash happened on September 25, at the intersection of US 283 and FM 2926, 19 miles South of Baird.

DPS said a 2017 Harley Davidson was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection. It then pulled out wide in front of a 2014 Toyota pickup that was traveling northbound on US 283 and was hit.

Both the rider and the passenger in the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
