Two Killed in Tyler County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 287 at FM 256

Tyler County, Texas (February 10, 2022) – Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Tyler County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened just after 11:00 a.m., February 9, at the intersection of Highway 287 and Farm to Market Road 256, about six miles northwest of Woodville.

DPS said a 2020 Kia SUV was traveling westbound on FM 256 when the driver failed to yield right-of-way at the intersection and pulled out in front of a fully loaded log truck, which was traveling northbound on Highway 287.

The log truck then hit the driver’s side of the SUV.

The impact caused the big rig to roll over into a ditch.

The SUV driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released.

The log truck driver, Christopher Faulkenberry, 31, of Woodville, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
