Two Officers Injured in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident at West Crockett and Presa Street; Eduardo Valencia Arrested

San Antonio, Texas (November 26, 2023) – Two police officers were injured Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle during the Ford Holiday River Parade, according to the police.

The accident happened on November 24, at the intersection of West Crockett and Presa Street.

Police said a Park Police officer was directing traffic at the intersection when he saw a driver disregarding a stop sign. He approached the driver, later identified as Eduardo Valencia, to speak with him. Another Park Police officer, who was also working the parade, crossed the intersection to assist the first officer.

Valencia ignored the officers and struck the second officer before fleeing the scene.

The officer was transported to Methodist Metropolitan Hospital with minor injuries.

A short time later, an on-duty SAPD officer attempted to apprehend Valencia at the intersection of St. Mary’s and East Commerce Street but Valencia hit the officer before being apprehended. The officer sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Valencia was booked on charges of two counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Police Officer, Failure to Stop and Render Aid, Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, and DWI.

An investigation is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
