29-Year-Old Woman Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Gulf Freeway

Houston, Texas (March 3, 2022) – A 29-year-old woman was killed Tuesday evening in a pedestrian accident in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 7:40 p.m., March 1, in the 19000 block of Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45).

Police said the woman was driving a black Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on the freeway when the right front tire of the Ford came off, and the truck became disabled between the far right lane and the shoulder. The woman exited the truck and called her friends while she stood on the shoulder next to her vehicle.

A white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling northbound in the far right lane, and when the driver saw the disabled Ford, he swerved to the right and struck the Ford and the woman who was outside her vehicle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The Toyota driver, a 20-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. He didn’t show signs of intoxication.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, pedestrian, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
