3 Hurt in Austin Boating Accident on Lake Travis; Rodney G. Barefield Arrested

Point Venture, Texas (July 6, 2019) – Three people were injured Thursday night in a boating accident near Point Venture, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4 on Lake Travis between Lakeway Marina and Point Venture.

According to the authorities, an intern and two Texas Game Wardens were patrolling the lake when they were allegedly hit by a boat operated by Rodney G. Barefield, 56, of Silsbee.

The intern and two wardens sustained minor injuries.

Barefield was arrested for operating the vessel under the influence of alcohol.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
