Daniel Montano ID’d as 29-Year-Old Groves Man Killed in Jefferson County Pedestrian Accident on US 69

Jefferson County, Texas (August 20, 2019) – The 29-year-old Groves man who was killed Monday afternoon in a pedestrian accident in Jefferson County has been identified as Daniel Montano, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident took place around 2:15 p.m., August 19, on US 69 near FM 3514.

Deputies said Montano had just been released from jail when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 66-year-old Beaumont man in front of the Jefferson County jail.

Montano was killed in the crash.

The pickup driver was uninjured in the accident.

The crash closed all southbound traffic lanes of US 69. Traffic was diverted onto the feeder road.

An investigation is ongoing.
