Mario Alberto, Trey Tipton Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 87 in Amarillo   

Mario Alberto and Trey Tipton ID’d as 2 of 4 Killed in Amarillo Car Accident on U.S. 87 near
Potter County, Texas (May 20, 2019) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified Mario Alberto, 35, of Amarillo, and Trey Tipton, 34, of Dumas as two of the four people who were killed Saturday night in a head-on crash in Potter County.
The deadly accident happened at around 11:25 p.m. Saturday, May 18 on U.S. 87, approximately 12 miles north of Amarillo.
The DPS said Alberto was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when his a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche collided head-on with a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro operated by Tipton.
Alberto and Tipton were declared dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Camaro, a 9-year-old, and a 5-year-old, also died in the wreck.
A 13-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Camaro, was airlifted to a hospital in Amarillo with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities believed Alberto was driving under the influence of alcohol. An investigation into the crash is underway.
