Laiyah Mitchell Killed, Nathaniel Jimenez, Sharya Snow and Shaud Dewberry Injured in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 64

Smith County, Texas – A 7-year-old boy was killed and three other people were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:15 p.m., on February 4, on State Highway 64.

DPS said Sharya L. Snow, 18, of Tyler was driving a 2018 Kia Forte westbound on the highway with two passengers inside, Laiyah G. Mitchell, 7, and Shaud D. Dewberry, 12, both from Tyler.

Snow pulled over into the left turn lane, and turned into the path of a 2014 Ram 3500 pickup driven by Nathaniel O. Jimenez, 25, of Tyler, resulting in a collision.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Snow, Dewberry, and Jimenez were taken to a Tyler hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
