Three Injured in La Vernia Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 87 near CR 356

La Vernia, Texas (February 20, 2020) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash last week on Wednesday, north of La Vernia, according to the DPS.

The crash took place around noon, February 12, on U.S. 87 near C.R. 356.

DPS said a Nissan Armada was traveling southbound in the left lane of the highway when it stopped to turn left onto a private drive. The Nissan was then rear-ended by a Kia Soul whose driver was not paying adequate attention.

The impact pushed the Nissan into the shoulder beside the northbound lane while the Kia caught fire.

The Kia driver, a Stockdale man, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. He is facing a failure to control speed charge.

The occupants of the Nissan, a man, and a woman from Henrietta were treated at the scene for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

We hope the injured victims recover quickly.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
