30-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Vehicle Crash on Eastex Freeway

Houston, Texas (January 16, 2023) – A 30-year-old man was killed on Monday in a vehicle crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 7:50 p.m., January 9, in the 14000 block of Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59).

Police said the man was driving a blue Toyota Corolla northbound behind a red Toyota Corolla and a blue Mazda CX3 and approaching the exit ramp to the Sam Houston Parkway.

As the vehicles were on the exit ramp, the red Corolla and the Mazda collided and spun into the main lanes of the freeway and struck a concrete barrier on the left shoulder.

The blue Corolla driver attempted to avoid the crash but lost control of his vehicle and struck the metal dividing barrier between the exit ramp and the main lanes. The vehicle did not hit any other vehicles.

The driver of the blue Corolla was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

The Mazda driver, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The red Corolla driver was uninjured in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
