Mohamed Abdi and Mubashar Ibraahim Hospitalized after Wheeler County Crash on Interstate 40 near Shamrock

Wheeler County, Texas (September 6, 2022) – Mohamed Abdi, 35, and Mubashar Ibraahim, 35, both of Portland, Oregon, were injured in a deadly crash Sunday morning in Wheeler County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The collision happened around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, September 4, on Interstate 40, about three miles east of Shamrock.

DPS said a 2017 Freightliner Truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was heading westbound on Interstate 40 when the driver failed to travel in a single lane and across the median.

The Freightliner then hit an eastbound 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, towing a box trailer.

The pickup truck driver, 60-year-old Steven Little from Clovis, California, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Freightliner, Abdi, and passenger, Ibraahim, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
