Four Killed, Two Injured in Austin Crash on Interstate 35 near Shelby Lane

Austin, Texas (July 30, 2023) – Four people were killed and two others were injured in a traffic collision early Sunday morning in Austin, according to a local news source.

The tragic accident was reported at about 2:31 a.m. in the 5300 block of the southbound Interstate 35 frontage road, just south of Shelby Lane.

As per the local news report, at least two vehicles were involved in the crash. After the crash, one of the involved vehicles overturned and caught fire.

Four people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two patients were taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police closed the road during the investigation.

The Austin Police Department is investigating the cause of the deadly crash.
