Mother and Three Children Killed in Harris County Multi-Vehicle Crash on FM 2920; Daniel Canada Charged

Harris County, Texas (March 16, 2021) – According to deputies, a mother and her three children were killed Sunday night in a fiery multi-vehicle crash in northwest Harris County.

The fatal crash happened around 8:50 p.m., March 14, on FM 2920 near Gosling Road.

Authorities said a 28-year-old mother was stopped at a light when her vehicle was rear-ended by a car driven by Daniel Canada.

The impact pushed the mother’s car into a vehicle that was in front of her. A total of seven vehicles were involved in the crash.

The mother’s car caught fire after the collision.

The mother, her 7-month-old baby, and her 5-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene. Her 2-year-old was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in the medical center, where they later died.

Canada was taken to the hospital with bumps and bruises. A deputy had earlier stopped Canada’s vehicle for speeding just after 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. He was briefly detained, and the deputy took a small amount of marijuana that was in Canada’s vehicle.

Canada was then released from custody, and he went ahead and caused the fatal crash.

Canada has since been charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
