Casey Ballard ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Austin Crash on Interstate 35

Austin, Texas (July 27, 2019) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in southeast Austin has been identified as Casey Ballard, 24, according to police.

The deadly accident happened just before 1:30 a.m.  Wednesday, July 24 in the 1100 block of South Interstate 35.

Police said Ballard was hit by a red, 2001 Nissan Frontier pickup that was traveling in the middle lane.

Ballard was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the crash.
