Juan Burgos Killed and Maria Burgos Injured in Panola County Two-Vehicle Crash on US-59
Panola County, Texas (June 1, 2021) – Three people, including a baby, were killed, and two others were injured Saturday night in a head-on collision in Panola County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal crash happened around 11:00 p.m., May 29, on US-59, just east of Carthage.
DPS said Morgan Leon Baker, 32, of Timpson, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado southbound in the northbound lanes of the multilane divided highway when he crashed head-on into a 2015 Ford F-150.
Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ford driver, Juan Francisco Burgos, 39, of Conroe, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A 1-year-old boy was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Ford, Maria Felix Burgos, 37, of Conroe, was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Hospital – Marshall in critical condition. Another passenger, a 15-year-old girl, was taken to Ochsner LSU Health – Shreveport in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
