Deputy Injured in West Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash on Milwaukee

Lubbock, Texas – A deputy was injured Monday night in a crash that happened after a chase in West Lubbock, according to the authorities.

The crash happened on Milwaukee, on January 29.

Authorities said around 6:40 p.m., a Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputy witnessed a car driving recklessly near 19th and Albany. When the deputy tried to stop the car, the driver, 32-year-old Gerardo Sanchez, sped off. The deputy pursued Sanchez until the chase ended near 26th and Milwaukee.

Sanchez and a 16-year-old got out of the car and ran, but were quickly arrested.

Another deputy was heading northbound on Milwaukee to assist and was hit by another vehicle. The impact caused the deputy’s car to flip. The deputy sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Sanchez is facing multiple charges, including reckless driving and evading arrest. The 16-year-old was also charged with evading arrest.

An investigation is underway.
