51-Year-Old Man Killed in San Antonio 18-Wheeler Crash on Interstate 10 at FM 1516

San Antonio, Texas (February 19, 2021) – A 51-year-old man was killed in an 18-wheeler crash Thursday night in San Antonio’s Far East Side, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred just before 8:00 p.m., February 18, on the Interstate 10 Bridge over FM 1516 near Green Road.

Police said an SUV spun out on the icy road conditions and hit a wall on the bridge. The driver got out of the vehicle, but the SUV remained disabled in the traffic lanes.

An 18-wheeler was traveling too fast for the road conditions when the driver saw the wrecked SUV on the bridge and tried to slow down to avoid it. The 18-wheeler jackknifed, hit the wall, and the driver was ejected.

A FedEx truck driver tried to slow down to avoid crashing into the 18-wheeler, and one of his trailers flipped.

The 18-wheeler driver, a 51-year-old man, was taken to the hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
