Six Injured in Andrews Two-Vehicle Crash at SH 115 and FM 2371

Andrews, Texas (October 28, 2023) – Six people were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Andrews, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m., October 27, at the intersection of State Highway 115 and FM 2371.

DPS said a Kenworth truck with a trailer was traveling southbound on FM 2371 and had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. A Slaton ISD Ford Expedition SUV was traveling westbound on SH 115, approaching the intersection.

The Kenworth truck failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and entered the intersection in front of the Slaton ISD vehicle, resulting in a collision. The Slaton ISD vehicle was on the way to Kermit for a football game.

The truck driver, a faculty member of Slaton ISD, and four passenger Slaton ISD students were transported to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews in stable condition.

The weather conditions were clear and the road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
