9 Hospitalized After Car Crashes into Food Truck and People on Barton Springs Road

9 People Injured After Two Vehicles Collide, Pushing One Car Into Food Truck and Group of People on Barton Springs Road

Austin, Texas(April 8, 2022) – Nine people were hospitalized Friday night after a collision between two vehicles pushed one of them into a group of people and a food truck along Barton Springs Road, according to a police report.

The crash happened around 8:18 p.m. at 1800 Barton Springs Road near Sterzing Street and Barton Boulevard.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, a sedan and a truck were involved in the initial crash. One of the vehicles T-boned into the other, pushing it into a group of people near the food truck.

9 People Injured in T-bone Crash Along Barton Springs Road

Authorities say a total of 11 people were involved in the collision. Of those, nine patients were injured in the crash.

Three people were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center, while six were taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.

According to ATCEMS, Two patients had potentially life-threatening injuries, two had serious injuries, and five others had non-life-threatening injuries. One of the drivers involved in the crash was among the patients hospitalized.

No additional details regarding the incident were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
