94-Year-Old Man Killed in Tom Green County Two-Vehicle Crash at FM 388 and FM 1692

Tom Green County, Texas (August 17, 2021) – A 94-year-old man was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash at an eastern Tom Green County intersection, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 6:40 a.m., August 16, at the intersection of FM 388 and FM 1692 near Mereta.

DPS said a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling eastbound on FM 388 while a 2021 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound on FM 1692.

The Outlander disregarded the stop sign at the intersection, entered the intersection and was struck by the Ford.

The Outlander driver, a 94-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. His 75-year-old female passenger was taken to Shannon with incapacitating injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt.

The driver and passenger of the Ford were checked out by medics at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
