Loving County, Texas (June 1, 2022) – 64-year-old Alejandro Diaz of El Paso, Texas, was among six people who were killed in a car crash in Loving County on Monday morning, according to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened at about 8:00 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the intersection of County Road 300 and Ranch to Market Road 652, approximately 21 miles north of Mentone.

DSP said a Toyota Tundra pickup was heading northbound on County Road 300 when the driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and hit the left passenger side of a 2017 F-150 Ford pickup that was traveling westbound on Ranch to Market Road 652.

Due to the impact of the collision, the Tundra slid through the intersection and slammed into a utility pole with its right passenger side.

Three rear-seat passengers of the Tundra were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The three ejected passengers and the right front passenger of the Tundra were killed in the crash.

The driver and the left rear passenger of the Ford F-150 also died in the crash.

Two other people were taken to Medical Center Hospital, one with serious injuries.

Authorities temporarily blocked the intersection for several hours as they investigated the scene.

No further details about the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A.
