Andres Sorto Killed in Houston Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 45 at FM 1960

Houston, Texas (November 27, 2023) – The 19-year-old who was killed early Monday morning after his motorcycle was struck by another teenager who was driving a stolen vehicle in Houston has been identified as Andres Saldano Sorto, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:00 a.m., at the intersection of Farm-to-Market 1960 and Interstate 45.

Police said they saw two cars which were racing along the interstate at a high rate of speed. When the officer tried to pull the driver over, the 16-year-old suspect refused to stop and was driving a speeds over 100 mph. The driver exited the highway at a high rate of speed and he did not slow down, ran a red light at the intersection, and crashed into Sorto who was riding his motorcycle from work.

The teenager continued driving for about a mile before he ditched the vehicle. He ran into a parking lot in an attempt to escape but was eventually taken into custody.

Sorto was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment. The vehicle he was driving was confirmed stolen.

The police are investigating the crash.
