Austin Christmas Killed in Head-On Crash on US 69 in Angelina County

27-Year-Old Austin Christmas Killed in Angelina County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 69 

Angelina County, Texas (February 11, 2020) – A Diboll man was killed in a head-on collision Monday night in Angelina County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened at about 8:10 p.m., February 10, on US 69, just north of Lufkin.

According to a preliminary investigation, Austin Christmas, 27, of Diboll, was driving a 2013 Chrysler passenger southbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, he crossed over into the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer.

Christmas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Peterbilt, Jairo Rodas, 46, of Siler City, North Carolina, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
