Austin Durrett Killed in Tyler Two-Vehicle Crash on S. Broadway

Tyler, Texas (August 19, 2023) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Tyler, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 7:15 p.m., in the 9300 block of S. Broadway between Market Square Boulevard and Loop 49.

Police said Austin Durrett, 36, from Jacksonville, was driving a black Toyota pickup southbound when he tried to pass traffic on the southbound shoulder but collided with another vehicle.

The Toyota rolled over several times after the collision. 

Durrett was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police are investigating the crash.
