1 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on East Freeway in Houston

One Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on East Freeway

Houston, Texas – One person was killed and several others were injured Wednesday night in a wrong-way crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened just before 9:00 p.m., January 31, on the East Freeway.

Police said they were chasing a stolen car on Chartres Street. They terminated the pursuit when the driver entered the freeway going the wrong way. The vehicle ended up colliding with another vehicle while driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway.

One person who was in the backseat of the stolen car was killed in the crash.

At least five other people were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The driver of the stolen car was taken into custody at the scene before being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Several other people in the stolen car ran away from the scene.

The crash closed the freeway for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
