The crash happened around 8:25 a.m., April 6, in the 7200 block of Airport Road.

Police said a Temple Police Department Ford Explorer was parked on the shoulder of the roadway when an eastbound car crossed into the westbound lanes and crashed head-on into it.

The driver of the car might have fallen asleep at the wheel before the crash. He was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer in the Explorer, Hassan Enriquez, was being evaluated for possible injuries but was not taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
