Man Critically Injured in San Antonio Bicycle Accident on Fran Fran Street; Christian Gomez Arrested

San Antonio, Texas (October 27, 2021) – According to the police, a man has been arrested in connection to the hit-and-run accident that left a bicyclist critically injured on Monday in Antonio.

Christian Gomez, 25, was arrested and booked into jail Monday night.

The accident happened just before 7:00 a.m., on October 25, on Fran Fran Street, not far from Highway 90 and South Zarzamora.

Police said Gomez was driving down the street when he struck a man in his 50s or 60s who was riding a bicycle. Gomez dragged and ran over the man with his truck.

The man was dragged for about 30 feet, and his bicycle was lodged under the truck.

Gomez pulled the bicycle beneath his truck and left the scene.

Officers found the victim on one end of the block unconscious and found his mangled bicycle on the other end.

The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Gomez later turned himself in and was arrested on a charge of failure to stop and render aid with serious bodily injury.

The police are investigating the crash.

With the surge in popularity of alternate transportation to save on fuel costs, bicycling has emerged as a new form of mobility forced to compete with motorized traffic in dangerous situations. This has resulted in many more accidents between human-powered vehicles and powerful engine-driven machines, producing tragic injuries as well as countless fatalities.
