Bicyclist Injured in Traffic Accident on West Houston Street in Tyler

54-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Tyler Electric Bicycle Accident on West Houston Street between Confederate and Glenwood

Tyler, Texas (August 1, 2019) – A man riding an electric bicycle was injured in a collision with a car Wednesday afternoon in Tyler, according to a local news source.

The crash was reported at around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 in the 1300 block of West Houston Street, between Confederate and Glenwood.

According to police, the bicyclist, a 54-year-old man, was traveling eastbound on Houston Street in the right lane when he suddenly turned left in front of  a car that was also heading eastbound on Houston Street in the left lane.

The bicyclist then struck the windshield of the car.

The bicyclist, who was not wearing his helmet, was transported to the hospital for treatment of head lacerations.

The male driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene and cooperated with police.

Further details were not immediately available, and the crash remains under investigation.
